Flat Out

I hope you don't Scrap this. I really like it and I think it would be a shame to relegate it to Scraps. The first thing I noticed about this picture is how well balanced it is, and how this balance occurs in a very organic, natural way.

I adore the lack of straight vertical lines, the way all the wooden poles holding up the pier are at different angles, appearing to stay upright through strength of will rather than strength of structure. The two birds occupy the empty patch of sky beautifully, in exactly the right place, and lift the eye up through the picture, creating a sense of freedom.

My favourite thing is the out of focus sand in the foreground, or rather the line where the sharpness and softness meet. It adds depth and enhances the feeling of viewing the scene from ground-level, hiding under something shady.
